Anxiety

Therapy to work with a variety of anxiety issues. Generalised anxiety disorder, panic attacks, addictions, binge-eating, agoraphobia, performance anxiety, social anxiety, phobias and health anxiety. Joanna uses Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy to help you face your fears and worries, build your resilience to anxiety and help you to lead a rich and fulfilling life. 

Depression

Therapy for Depression and low mood.

Helping you identify the thoughts, behaviours and patterns which are maintaining your depression.  Joanna uses CBT, behavioural activation, sleep-wake therapy, ACT and schema therapy according to what suits individual clients, age and preference.

Sleep issues

Sleep issues and insomnia include difficulty getting to sleep, staying asleep or waking up too early as well as nightmares and night terrors and narcolepsy. Joanna helps you identify what is keeping the sleep problem going and how to address this. Joanna draws upon her experience of her work in the NHS London Insomnia Unit and uses CBT for Insomnia or blends this with ACT (acceptance and commitment therapy) to help you sleep well. Joanna works closely with sleep medicine professionals when needed.

OCD

OCD – Obsessive Compulsive Disorder.  OCD can mean experiencing obsessive rumination or self-doubt, vivid disturbing images, intrusions or contamination related fears.  Joanna is passionate about providing therapy for people with OCD that works.   Joanna uses CBT as it has the best evidence-base for treating this distressing condition.  It is really important that people with OCD work with a practitioner who understands OCD and how to treat it. PTSD

Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) can occur after experiencing or witnessing a traumatic event.  Symptoms include a heightened sense of danger, having flashbacks, have nightmares and feeling stressed or fearful, even in safe situations. Joanna uses to CBT and/or EMDR help you process your feelings associated with the trauma and the meaning you took from the event.  Joanna brings compassion-focussed therapy and schema therapy to this approach to ensure you feel safe and supported every step of the way.

Interpersonal difficulties

Interpersonal difficulties, personality-level difficulties, self-esteem, childhood abuse, trauma and treatment-resistant chronic anxiety and depression. Joanna uses Schema Therapy in particular or at times, CBT to help address these issues.
